It can be lonely at the top, but it doesn’t have to be.

We know leaders limit their potential when they lead from isolation. But, when surrounded by trusted advisors with a common goal and a biblical worldview, they can maximize performance and energize cultures. With faith as the foundation, this powerful group of peers meet in an exclusive, confidential forums throughout the San Antonio and Austin areas to have their questions answered and their answers questioned.

KYLE SETLIFF

I have a passion for encouraging and equipping followers of Jesus to live out their faith in an authentic way, fully integrated into every area of their lives. I have experience in various areas of the private and nonprofit sectors and a strong entrepreneurial sense. In leading a conglomerate of equipment dealerships and also a land investment company, I have had the opportunity to oversee hundreds of employees, navigate complex multi-level business issues and lead organizations through various mergers and acquisitions. For the past 12 years, I’ve had the honor of serving in leadership for Bible Study Fellowship. I am currently serving as the Teaching Leader and head of the Men’s Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) Class in New Braunfels. I am also the leader of a couples’ small group Bible Study at Oakwood Baptist Church, where I have been blessed to serve as Deacon. I grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas, where I was involved in my family’s farming operation from a very young age. I attended Texas A&M University and was involved in several leadership organizations during my time there. I have been married to my best friend, Lindsay, for 14 years and we have one son, Griffin (8), and three daughters, Presleigh (5), Tatum (3), and Sloane (10 months).

MICHAEL HEFLIN

Michael leverages his over forty years as a high-tech industry businessman with his early career as a Pastor to challenge and equip senior executives to live out their faith while they build successful businesses. He has served as Chairman, CEO, Owner, COO, and Executive Vice President in public, private and not-for-profit companies. Michael guided four of the companies to lead their industries as well as served four publicly traded companies. His teams scaled to over 230 people with revenues above $95 million. He had the pleasure of building and aligning domestic and international executive teams. And two of his high-tech companies were successfully acquired. He has also served as a Chairman and advisor in not-for-profit organizations including RightNow Media. Over 15 years ago Michael had a conversation with an executive in a not-for-profit where he served as board Chairman that changed him. God made him fully aware that on Sunday we said our “work is worship” but we did not make clear how to actually do it. The question facing us is how we fully serve God while building a successful business. Today his passion is making clear what work as worship is to CEOs and Business Owners.

BO CARRINGTON

Bo Carrington, was most recently President and owner of BCA Executive Consultants. He brings more than 25-years of varied management and leadership experience to C12 and his board members, including a leadership vision shaped by two and a half decades of experience in the U.S. Air Force and working in and with high performing organizations. His passion has been and remains to bring out the best in organizations by helping leaders be the best they can be. Bo has served as a coach and advisor to leaders for almost 25 years, both as an internal resource while leading HR functions and as an external executive coach. His insight and data-driven approach to coaching has assisted many leaders at senior levels to grow through existing career barriers and has assisted many high potential leaders to grow to assume new and expanded roles. Bo’s list of coaching clients is spread across industries and professional levels and his active client list includes more than a dozen organizations, some of which involve engagements with multiple leaders. Bo’s approach to coaching is built around helping leaders and their organizations achieve a heightened level of ongoing self-awareness and intentional decision making that is aligned with who they are and who they want their organization to be. As a coach, Carrington works to help the executives develop their own self-sustaining systems for feedback to ensure continual growth without having to have an external coach. Raised mostly in a suburb of Jackson, Mississippi (those who know him say he really didn’t “grow up” until his mid-20’s), his dad was looking for discipline, and he was looking for adventure when he joined the Air Force as a medical technician, became part of an emergency medicine team, and a few years later became part of an aeromedical evacuation crew. He proudly served for over 10 years, including in the first Gulf War combat zone (we knew it as Desert Shield/Desert Storm). Carrington got his first real experience in intentional leadership from a tough-as-nails Chief Master Sergeant, and learned early on that voluntarily giving a superior performance to a leader was very different than performing out of fear of punishment. That type of intentional, influential leadership is what he has worked to inspire in his own firm and with his clients. Carrington’s Air Force service landed him in Texas, and he never left (he considers himself a Texan without the twang). He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting (Hardin-Simmons), an MBA with an emphasis in International Business and Human Resource Development, and leadership experience in business sectors that include investment & insurance, transportation/logistics, retail and manufacturing. The most influential role model in his corporate life was a 30+ year iconic leader that needed some help with people skills – and not only got it, but applied it at that late stage of his career, shared it with those around him and brought even more success to the company. Carrington learned what it meant to coach and mentor others by being coached and mentored and most importantly how to keep from making things more complicated than they should be. His life philosophy is that most things in life aren’t overly complicated, they are simply just not easy. When he’s not chasing around his 11 and 18-year-olds, he’s either in the dojo continuing his fourth black belt journey, serving on the board of a non-profit he works with that assists veteran, their kids, and families across the United States or on the dance floor chasing his newly found passion for ballroom dance competition.

Robert resides in Boerne, a small town outside of San Antonio, Texas with his bride Teressa and their five children (Ryan, Ajay, Ashton, Elijah, and Janna). BILL SITTER

William “Bill” Sitter is highly motivated and energized to team with Mike Sharrow and Robert Vogel to bring C12’s valuable offering to Christian business leaders in Central and South Texas. Bill brings a combination of business and non-profit ministry leadership spanning 50 years that encompasses domestic and international experience. With an MBA obtained at age 50, he is a lifelong learner who has also gained Board Certification as a Christian Executive Life Coach. Bill is sought after as a platform speaker, small group facilitator, and workshop presenter. He has authored dozens of nationally-publicized articles in the field of human resources and has published workbooks dealing with the application of Biblical principles in the arena of personal finances. His previous life coaching practice focused on multiple specialty areas that relate to topics relevant to C12 Members, including: Goal Achievement, Team Building, Priority and Time Management, Communications, Sales Techniques/Management; Leadership; Motivational Factors and Personality Styles, Human Resources – hiring and interviewing, Organizational Structures and Removing Roadblocks, and Financial Foundations for Individuals. Bill sees the opportunity to Chair C12 Groups in South Texas as a clear call from God. His background includes: large corporate sales and marketing experience gained with Caterpillar (US/Europe/Middle East) and domestic general management experience with International Harvester. He built a distribution network that successfully grew sales and profits while serving as National Sales Manager for a manufacturer of concrete batch plants and storage facilities. His ability to contribute experience-based ideas has been greatly enhanced while completing a very successful small services firm start-up, which he led for 20 years, and from launching and leading a 20-year-old non-profit ministry. Bill and his wife of over 50 years, Maureen, moved to South Texas in 1986, and soon after accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. They live in Comal County on the edge of the Texas Hill Country and have two adult children and two grandchildren. Bill sees C12 as providing him the ideal career calling that allows him the opportunity to work with organizational leaders with the goal of seeing Jesus Christ exemplified in the marketplace.

DAN WALTERS

Dan Walters is an experienced business leader and improvement coach with a passion for helping other leaders and their teams align their work and their faith. He worked for 23 years with Saudi Aramco (formerly ARAMCO), the world’s largest producing oil company, as Chief of Staff to various executives.  He was responsible for strategic planning, leadership development, and large-scale change initiatives.  He is a proven, gifted facilitator who has helped diverse executive teams to routinely meet stretch goals, competing objectives, and challenging deadlines. For 10 years, Dan served healthcare clients as a hands-on change management consultant helping physicians and executives plan and execute improvements to patient care, clinical processes, and professional society governance. While working for ARAMCO in Saudi Arabia, during Operation Desert Storm, Dan met a man that inspired a change in the direction and intensity of his career.  He heard a US Army First Sergeant say, “I have learned to be a First Sergeant and a Christian, too.”  Seeing a man that had connected his Sundays and Mondays recalibrated Dan’s focus from just pursuing business excellence to also pursing alignment of work and faith.  As a result, Dan’s inspirational approach to leadership development instills a level of encouragement that followers of Christ can not only run great businesses, but they can also connect their work and faith in a meaningful fashion that’s unique to their chosen field of business. Dan has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA from Texas A&M University. Dan and Lynda, his high school sweetheart, have been married 50 years and have six grandchildren. DARRYL EVETTS

Darryl Evetts is excitedly focused on his calling to serve leaders in the Central Texas area who desire success in their business and significance in their personal life, family, and community for the sake of the gospel and the glory of God. Darryl is first and foremost a disciple of Jesus Christ. Characterized by his service, passion, energy, and work ethic, Darryl is a strong leader who brings his all to every endeavor.  He lives out his passion for helping unlock the God-given potential in leaders by discipling, training, and coaching in the context of genuine relationships. Darryl served his country honorably for 22 years in the United States Air Force. His career included many assignments around the globe and a multitude of accolades and awards to include the Secretary of the Air Force Leadership Award. His most treasured accomplishment was serving in the rank of Chief Master Sergeant, the pinnacle of an Air Force enlisted person’s career reserved for the top 1% of the Air Force enlisted corps. In this role, he was entrusted with leading, developing, and managing the efforts of thousands of enlisted personnel and served as a principal executive adviser to unit commanders and senior officers. Upon completion of a successful Air Force career, God moved Darryl from serving in the military to serving in ministry. Called of God and motivated by his own experience of coming to Christ while far from home, he planted and pastored a church in Germany to serve the US military members and their families stationed there. God’s favor and the fruitfulness of this ministry lead to Darryl’s invitation to initiate and lead a church-planting movement among a network of 70 international churches spanning 150 nationalities across 25 countries. Darryl’s leadership directly resulted in an unprecedented growth of nearly 20 new churches in only 10 years. Most recently, as a consultant with GiANT Worldwide, Darryl has been training, coaching, and consulting with nonprofit and for-profit organizational leaders to create healthy, high performing teams by equipping their people around the five key metrics of communication, relationship, alignment, execution, and capacity. Darryl is passionate about learning and growing. He holds a Doctor of Ministry Degree in Global and Contextual Leadership from Bethel Seminary, a Master of Arts in Religion from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Liberty University. He has a Coaching Mastery Certification from Creative Results Management and is an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) through the International Coach Federation. Darryl serves his local church as an elder and servant leader in the areas of discipleship, leadership development, and small group ministry. He has been joyfully married to his high school sweetheart and best friend, Debra, for 41 years. They currently reside in Bulverde, Texas. They have two adult daughters, one son-in-law, and one beautiful granddaughter.

STEVE VERLEYE

I was blessed to spend 34 years in the technology industry and then 8 years as the COO of the Colson Center for Christian Worldview. I love spending time at the intersection of faith and work and mentoring younger leaders passionate about the same. I feel that God has given me these passions and opportunities to prepare me for this role as a Chair with the C12 Group. I have served as Chairman, CEO, COO, and Senior Vice President in public, private, and not-for-profit companies that grew from $15M in revenue up to $2.5B, have led multiple acquisitions and divestitures, and led teams of up to 700 people. I’ve also had the opportunity to lead international growth efforts at multiple companies. I was privileged to meet and study under Chuck Colson and later joined the Colson Center which provided me with experience in a ministry non-profit. My jam is strategic planning, alliances, business development, and growth. My corporate experience came from Intel Corporation (INTC), Sequent Computer Systems (SQNT), RadiSys Corporation (RSYS), and then as President and CEO of Applied Microsystems (APMC) and Chief Administrative Officer of Coinstar/Redbox (CSTR). Marianne and I were married in 1977 and have two children and three grandchildren. I graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in electrical engineering. This makes me a neutral party in any arguments about which Texas university is the best.

“C12 is everything I was looking for and more of what I didn’t know I needed. My peers challenge me in my blind spots, love me in hard times, and encourage me to glorify God in the way I lead my team. It’s a home for business leaders.”
